Quite a burst of activity at the Fill yesterday (Friday) evening around
6pm:
7 - 12 least sandpipers
3 long-billed dowitchers
1 Cooper's hawk
1 juv. northern harrier
1 osprey
1 bald eagle
1 juv. hooded merganser
When the Cooper's hawk showed up it was time for everything else to
leave. Still it was nice while it lasted.
Earlier in the week there was:
Tuesday, 1 juv. wood duck on the slough between the Fill and the UW
playing fields.
Wednesday, 2 pine siskins flying over the central pond.
Thurday: 2 spotted sandpipers on the central pond.
Photos of the least sandpipers, killdeer and some of the myriad of
swallows are online at www.waders.org, in the Recent Photos section.
