Hummingbird reports are popular this year, so here's mine.

Here on the steppe, among the wheat fields, I saw a Black-chinned hummingbird and a Calliope Hummingbird, both females or juvies, (post-breeding dispersal, failed breeding, or migration?). The two were concentrating on, and fighting over, the Monarda. Monarda (bee balm) is an easily-grown perennial that comes in shades of reds and purples. Most types form spreading clumps, 2-3 ft tall. Some are taller.
