Hi Tweeters,

As of this morning all but one of the Medina Heron's have fledged. I had an interesting conversation with a couple who are neighbors of the park whom I haven't met before. She said they could hear night feedings with the youngens squawking away for food. Another thing she mentioned was that she thought one was grounded this past Saturday. She said that it was very approachable and not flying. I had not heard about it prior to this morning. Does anyone work for wildlife rescue who received one of them or knows more about one being grounded? I am curious.

She also said one of her neighbors has a vested interest in the success of this small colony. He seems to have taken it relatively good naturedly but apparently they have fished out about $1000.00 worth of Koi from his pond. I know I have witnessed the adults come back with some BIG fish for the babies. Bigger than I though they could possibly eat, but of course they did. The last nestling looks strong and healthy, it should probably be only a matter of a day or so and then they all will be flyers so far as I know.
