As I was driving across the I-90 bridge from Mercer Island to Bellevue yesterday evening, a peregrine falcon flew low overhead, flapping hard to clear the traffic on the bridge then gliding off to the north. It was a fairly dark bird with extensive black on the face and heavy dark barring/streaking on the lower breast and belly. I glimpsed its back as it banked towards me and my impression was brownish gray rather than blue-gray; that and its broad-winged appearance make me suspect it was a juvenile, and based on size, probably a female.

That's my third peregrine in 10 days since I saw a pair in Red Rocks recreation area in Las Vegas a week ago Saturday. When it rains it pours.
