(At last, a tweeters subject that's actually elicited some response lately.)

Since I've been mapping birds for several years, I use codes for files. Problem is, my codes are the WDFW codes based on scientific names. American Robin in my code book is TUMI, not AMRO. Not only do I usually have to look up the code I've worked with for years, I find it very difficult to switch back and forth between my codes and the Bird Bander codes. Codes are great for computer files and databases. They interfere with communication. SIOP (Spell it out please.)
