While at Moon Falls in Oregon over the weekend (east of Cottage Grove), I
watched a Townsend's soliatire pretend to be a Black Swift. It flew directly
into and through the falling water to the cliff face where it hovered momentarily
and poked at the rock and then flew back out through the water. This was not
a rushing torrent of water it flew through, but it was more than just a misty
spray of water too.....A recently fledged Townsend's solitaire (very
spotted/scaled breast) was watching nearby, so future generations may also exhibit
this behavior.
