Sightings for July 28

In Salmon Arm the adult CLARK'S GREBE was again seen from the Salmon Arm
Pier (LN).

A WHITE-WINGED SCOTER was on Okanagan Lake on the N. side of Poplar Point in
Kelowna (GW).

In Vancouver, an adult LITTLE STINT, discovered on the 27, was again present
on the 28 at the Iona Sewage Ponds (fide RT). Call the Vancouver Rare Bird
alert at (604) 737-3074 for updates.


Sightings for July 27

A bird fitting the description of a WHITE-TAILED KITE was studied at lenght,
this afternoon, along Westside Road, which connects Kelowna and Veron on the
W. side of Okanagan Lake, approx. 6 km N. of Fintry (BH). The bird was
approached while perched and studied, before it flew south. The fields on
the Fintry delta should be checked for this bird.

In Salmon Arm, the adult CLARK'S GREBE could easily be seen from the Salmon
Arm Pier on the 24th (HV). A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen at the dog park at
the foot of Narcisse Road in Salmon Arm on the 24th (HV).


Sightings for July 24

Rawlings Lake, E. of Lumby, continues to have a few shorebirds. Present
today were 2 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 2 SOLITARY SANDPIPERS, 6 LEAST
SANDPIPERS, a PECTORAL SANDPIPER, 2 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 3 LESSER YELLOWLEGS,
2 WILSON'S PHALAROPES, numerous KILLDEER and a LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER
(CC,CS,BC). From Vernon, head E. on Hwy 6 and proceed a few km past the town
of Lumby. Turn left on Rawlings Lake Road and the lake will be encountered a
short distance down the road.
