Hello All,

I made a visit to Discovery Park this morning and had a couple of
interesting birds in the South Meadow area of the park. There was a Western
Kingbird which was keeping to the southern part of the meadow. Also an adult
male Lazuli Bunting which seemed to be on territory. I heard and watched him
first singing near the mostly dead Pacific Dogwood (the prominent
dead-topped tree toward the center of the meadow, north of the trail which
bisects the meadow west to east) and then later just to the west of this
tree in a small grove of cherry. He was singing an abbreviated version of
the more typical bunting song- sounded more like an adherent MacGillivray's
Warbler. Several species of warbler were also in the area- Wilson's,
Orange-crowned, Yellow, Townsend's, and MacGillivray's Warbler.

Good birding, Alan
