Chatters,
While hiking through a mixed forest in Central Washington (Levenworth area) yesterday, I happened upon an unusual PINE SISKIN. For all intensive purposes this bird looked like a typical male for this area. What was unusual was that the whole undertail covert area was a uniform blood red color. My question for the group, do Siskins hybridize with other Carduelis species? If not, any ideas what might have been the cause of this unique coloration?
