Friday, May 30, 2003, 5:38 p.m. Hello, this is Michael Bentley. I'm
from Victoria, but I've been working down in the Wanapum Dam area of the
Columbia River for the last month, and I just wanted to let everyone
know that the YELLOW-BILLED LOON that's been here since I got, first saw
it on April 24th, and I guess it's been here all winter maybe. It's
still here and is often seen just below the dam by the Heritage Center,
by the boat launch area, particularly in the mornings.

Friday, May 30, 2003, 10:00 o'clock p.m. This is Douglas Marshal, (206)
270-8960. Was down at the Montlake Fill this evening and I observed a
WILSON'S PHALAROPE at the south end of Shoveler Ponds, which I believe
is the pond closest to the Urban Horticultural Center.

Saturday, May 31, 2003, 9:30 a.m. This is Vic Nelson. This morning at
Point-No-Point, at the northeast tip of the Kitsap Peninsula, I had a
MOCKINGBIRD. It's around the old resort either on the beach or back
around the trailer park. It's been around here for a half an hour or so
that I've seen it. Thank you. Good-bye.

Saturday, May 31, 2003, 6:42 p.m. Hi, this is Gary Bletsch and I'm now
reporting a SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER was seen at Rockport today, May
31st. It was spotted by Steve and Gail Brady, at about 3:00 o'clock in
the afternoon, and subsequently I went up there and saw it, as did Marv
Breece, who happened to be in the area, and Howard Armstrong. It's on
the Martin Road in Rockport. You go to Rockport on Highway 20 in Skagit
County, cross the Skagit River, make the first left. You come to a 90
degree turn in the road. You can park there at the fish and game access
and then walk, continue walking up the road, past the 90 degree turn,
and the SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER is hanging out in about 300 yards from
the fish and game access going to various telephone lines. The address
there is 11633 Martin, and you're not supposed to go into the private
property or anything there. It's rather difficult to park on the road,
although it is just barely possible to park on the shoulder. Good
birding. Good-bye.

Sunday, June 01, 2003, 1:56 p.m. Hi, this is Steven Mlodinow. Today
Bob Flores and I had a first-year, male CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER signing
at Lyon's Ferry State Park. The bird was hanging out where the
concession stand building is, actually the concession stands are never
open. The bird was there for a good hour or more singing away. Also at
Lyon's Ferry, we had a RED-EYED VIREO, two YELLOW-BREASTED CHATS, we had
a late GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET at Palouse Falls, and a, sorry, lost my
train of thought -- and a CATBIRD, and a SWAINSON'S THRUSH at Washtucna.
Yesterday the WHITE-FACED IBIS was still present at the Para Ponds just
outside of Othello, visible from the road, and that's it. Good luck and
good birding.

Tuesday, June 03, 2003, 12:25 a.m. Hi, this is Steven Mlodinow. On
June 2, Bruce LaBar and Bill Tweit went to Lyon's Ferry to look for the
CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER. Did not find that bird, but had a BROWN
THRASHER and an AMERICAN REDSTART. I'm not certain where in the park
the THRASHER was. That's it. Good luck and good birding.
