Sightings for Saturday, June 14 - 11:00 PM update

Sightings for June 14

A GREAT EGRET was found along the E. dyke S. of Road 22 (JL). The bird was
perched in a dead tree along one of the oxbows.

At km 4 on McCulloch Road, SE. of Kelowna, a pair of CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS
were found and nesting was confirmed (CC,CS). A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was
also heard singing along Beaver Lake Road, at km 4.5 on June 13 (CC).

15 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS were seen flying over the west side of Penticton
on June 13 (JG).

On June 12 a singing male LEAST FLYCATCHER was in a clump of willows along
Maquinna Road in Kelowna (CC).


Sightings for June 10

A small group of AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS were seen on James Grant Island, in
Carr's Landing in the morning (PBo).

The YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT continues along Bailey Road, on the Vernon
Commonage. From Hwy 97, S. of Vernon, drive W. on Bailey Road for approx. .7
km to an area where aspens flank both sides of the road. The brushy hillside
to the W. is where the chat has been seen. Also here was a singing LEAST
FLYCATCHER (CC,RM).

A pair of BARRED OWLS were heard in the woods, just past the cattleguard at
km 10 on Beaver Lake Road, E. of Winfield (CC,RM). Walk down the old roadway
on the right, about 100 meters beyond the cattleguard. The owls responded to
calls a short distance down this old roadway.


Sightings for June 7

A YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT was found along Bailey Road on the Vernon Commonage,
well N. of its usual Okanagan breeding range (CS,PG,PB). Singing in the same
area were a LEAST FLYCATCHER (CS). Two more LEAST FLYCATCHERS were heard in
the tree farm on Bench Row Road, also on the Commonage (CS).

Two LEAST FLYCATCHERS were also heard in an aspen grove along the Twin Lakes
Road, a short distance W. of the White Lk Rd turnoff on June 6 (LN).
