Greetings

The almost Black Duck was again at the Everett waterfront. I've seen this
bird, off-and-on, for 4 years or so at the Everett waterfront and at the Everett
Sewage Treatment Ponds.

It looks very much like a pure female Black Duck, but has a dull gray
trailing edge to the speculum and orange freckling on a dark bill. The speculum
pattern, in-and-of itself, may not eliminate pure Black Duck, but the bill pattern
does demonstrate the presence of Mallard genes.
