Today I decided that I would check out the RED-EYED VIREOS that the
Sullivan's have reported from southeast Grays Harbor County. I heard one
bird singing from the Cottonwood trees along the river at the second bridge
on Howanut RD (there is a large bend in the road here and a private drive).
Also had three LAZULI BUNTINGS singing at the first bridge.

I stopped at quite a few locations in Thurston Co., pretty much anywhere
that had access to the Chehalis and Black rivers or tributaries. No R/Eyeds
heard at any of these stops, although I'm sure if you were to canoe that
stretch you would hear them. The south end of Moon RD has a real nice feel
to it, I'm not sure if you can walk in after the county road ends (is it
private?). Had a RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER here and many Warbling Vireos and
Rufous Hummers. There's a nice patch of Manroot or Wild Cucumber here, I
first noticed this plant down in California last week so it was nice to
finally see it in WA.

On the way home I had one GREEN HERON fly over I-5 near the rest stop close
to the Case RD exit.
