Stopped for about an hour and a half at Scatter Creek (near Grand Mound)
yesterday afternoon. Heard and saw the same (I presume) male LAZULI BUNTING
near the barn, I've been hearing one at this location all spring. I have
yet to see a female around but one could be on a nest. Anyone seen evidence
of breeding here? Also heard another male singing at the powerline break on
the creek side of the loop. Best bird of the day was a singing HOUSE WREN
in the oaks near the horse path that heads towards 183rd street (I think
this is the name, the street that passes the cemetary). The horse path is
closed during this time of the year so I didn't get to see the bird, just
heard it from the interior loop path. This is the first wren I've heard
here this year, last year there was one hanging out by the powerlines on the
creek side of the loop.
