Hi, Tweets

I am forwarding a message I received re the goose-killing by Seattle Parks
Department. PLEASE don't flame me - I am just forwarding information that I
know a few tweeters might like to know. Not all of us on tweeters is an
advocate of killing Canada geese; this is just directed at those who are
interested.

Cheers, Diann

>If you have not received one already, you may be receiving an email or
>letter reply from the Parks Department [they usually don't bother replying
>if you said you live outside of the city]. This correspondence, signed by
>Parks Superintendent Ken Bounds, will tell you that the anticipated goose
>roundup and gassing will proceed as planned. It also offers a vague
>promise of no goose kill next year.
>
>The recent meeting between Ken Bounds and members of local and national
>humane organizations was a sham, set up by Ken Bounds at the insistence of
>Mayor Nickels. At the same time that I obtained your contact information,
>I also obtained documents indicating that Mayor Nickels put pressure on
>Bounds to defuse the issue and stop the calls to the mayor's office.
>Bounds had no intention of reversing his decision to kill geese. He was
>stalling, as instructed by Mayor Nickels.
>
>Ken Bounds personally told one goose activist about ten days ago, "I will
>kill geese where I want and when I want."
>Dozens of ethics complaints have been filed against Ken Bounds for
>misrepresenting information about the goose population and the need to
>kill them. Other Parks documents reveal that the Parks Department is aware
>that there has NEVER been any case of disease traced back to goose droppings.
>
>Bounds and the Parks Department are out of control. They have not
>responded to facts or reason. The ONLY pressure that Bounds appears to
>understand is pressure DIRECTLY from Mayor Nickels.
>Please TELEPHONE Mayor Nickels office repeatedly. Talk to an assistant to
>the mayor. Insist that the goose kill be stopped. Tell the Mayor's
>assistant that Ken Bounds is not responsive to the public and is part of
>the problem Insist that he mayor responds to you, not forward your letter
>to Bounds.

>Please Call Mayor Nickels now and say:
>
>I am opposed to the Canada goose kill. I have contacted Ken Bounds, but he
>pays no attention. I will be calling the Mayor frequently until this
>needless carnage is called off.
>
>If you are from outside of Seattle, please add that you will not visit
>Seattle while this kill is going on and that you will advise others not to
>visit Seattle.
>
>If you live in Seattle, please tell Mayor Nickels that you will not vote
>for any candidate for mayor who has the blood of Canada geese on his hands.
>
>The mayor can also be emailed through his webform:

>Thanks
