On Friday, Penny Koyama and I went in search of the BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER
that has reappeared in Hardy Canyon, off Wenas Rd. This bird, which must
be the same individual seen there last summer, was vocal and easy to
find. It was in the same place as last year, south of the lone Ponderosa
Pine. There is a white handkerchief tied to a bush in the general area the
bird frequents (thank-you, Rich Repp). While there, Penny and I ran into
John Herbert, who pointed us in the right direction, and Michael Dossett,
carrying a camera with the biggest lens I have ever seen. I hope he got
some good photos. Anyway, the only other notable bird we saw, on the way
back up to Ellensburg on Umtanum Rd, was an immature GOLDEN EAGLE, being
harrassed by a smaller bird.
