Sightings for Sunday, June 22- midnight update

Sightings for June 22

Perfect conditions for owling produced 2 LONG-EARED OWLS, 2 BARRED OWLS and
a FLAMMULATED OWL on the Bald Range, on Kelowna's Westside (CC,AV,DC,m.ob).
Take the Bear Lake Road from Westside Road, and travel approx 11 km. Just
after a switch back take the road that branches off to the right. Stay right
at the intersection encountered soon thereafter. Continue on to a clearing,
with an outhouse, and travel another 500 meters to find the location for the
owls.

In Kelowna, the GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was seen at Scandia Golf and Games, on
Hwy 97 (AV,DC,m.ob).

A WHITE-THROATED SWIFT was seen along Bailey Road, on the Vernon Commonage
(CC,CE,m.ob). Also on the Commonage, 2 WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCHES were just
W. of Thomson Lake, on Commonage Road (CC,CE,m.ob).


Sightings for June 21

An adult GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was feeding in the flooded field
immediately N. of Otter Lake, N. of Vernon (CS,CC,RT).

Brought down by rainy weather, at least 100 BLACK SWIFTS were seen at Swan
Lake, in Vernon (CC,CS,RT).

At Christmas Island, on the Salmon Arm Foreshore, a CLARK'S GREBE was seen
at close range (RT,CS,CC).

Seen from the dog park at the foot of Narcisse Road, on the Salmon Arm
Foreshore, were 3 COMMON TERNS and a BLACK TERNS (CC,RT,CS).


Sightings for June 18

The BARRED OWL was heard just beyond the km 10 cattleguard on Beaver Lk
Road, E. of Winfield (CC,JJ,RA).

A WESTERN SCREECH-OWL was seen in the woods at the bridge over K.L.O Ck on
McCulloch Road, in Kelowna (CC).

At Scandia Golf & Games, the male GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was again seen
(CC,JJ,RA).

At Robert Lake, in Kelowna, there was a single AMERICAN AVOCET (CC,JJ,RA).

S. of Vernon, a ROCK WREN was seen at the large pull-out on the Old Okanagan
Highway (PB).

COMMON POORWILLS and FLAMMULATED OWLS were heard along Irrigation Ck Road,
E. of Vaseux Lake on the night of the 17th (JJ).

On June 16, three EARED GREBES and a male HOODED MERGANSER were on Bubna
Slough, which is the southernmost of the ponds encountered, N. of the
Kelowna Dump along Glenmore Road (CC).
