Subject: Black Swifts over the Samish Flats

June 22, the first full day of summer, was cloudy and a little damp, so I
wasn't altogether surprised to see Black Swifts down at sea level, foraging
over the fields near the corner of Bayview-Edison and Samish Island Rds.
But I was surprised at the numbers - we counted at least ninety, and there
were probably many, many more. The feeding aggregation spread as far as the
eye could see in the direction of Alice Bay and the Samish River. Where do
they all come from? Must be more waterfalls around than I thought...
