Hi Tweeters,

It has been a fledgorama at Medina Park. Early last week had one day with Violet Green Swallow fledglings one day in one area and the next day Tree Swallow fledglings the next day. I have to add that this is as best as I can tell based on the adult birds who were feeding the fledglings. I had a tough time matching up the babies with the pics in the book..

Last night at least one of the two active Bullock's Oriole nests had fledged and it was great fun to watch the parents scramble to keep up with the young and keep stuffing food into them. Many of the park visitor's enjoyed them too after I helped them find the fledging and male parent.

The Downy Woodpecker has only one young so far as I can tell but it has not fledged but is very noisy after the parent has been there. It keeps calling long after the parent has left. Maybe it doesn't want to be forgotten.

The Great Blue Heron nests are busy. Two of the nests the young are wandering off the nest into the branches. The other two may have had a accidental chick transfer. The top nest used to have 4 chicks in it, now it has 3 and the next nest down used to have 3 chicks in it and now it has 4!! I was quite amazed at this. I would have thought if one fell into another it would be forced out. Very interesting.
