Hi Tweets:
Has anyone seen any Williamson's Sapsuckers in WA this year? I
searched for them at a spot at Trendwest (near the Roslyn turnoff),
right at the top of the first hill, turn left, park at the gate and
walk in. This has been known for them in the past. And I sent
friends over to Leech Lake, the lake at the top of White Pass. This
lake is not visible from the highway, but it's just north of the top
of the pass. My friends were at Leech Lake June 14, and could not
find any W. Sapsuckers.
The only place I have seen them this year was
down in Oregon. We had them during the Eugene ABA Convention, on the
woodpecker field trip to a forest
service campground near Sisters in the Cascades. They were nesting
there in Cold Springs Campground, a large place w/ open ponderosa
forest. That spot was very productive in early June for many
species of birds.
But where are the sapsuckers this year in Washington? I'd really like
to know
and would appreciate any suggestions.
Yours, Carol Schulz
