Tuesday the 24th I spent most of the afternoon at Midway beach. I was
looking to watch the snowy plovers run to and fro and hoping for some close
looks at the Horned Larks in the area. I did that. About a half dozen snowy
plovers and about the same for Horned Larks. One lark was foraging and
bringing food to a young one waiting patiently in one spot for each return.
I was watching at some distance through scope so as not to disturb, but am
sure she knew I was there and was bothered by it so I left them sooner than
I might otherwise. Also of note were 30 Western Sandpipers feeding together
with about 20 Semi-palmated Plovers. I took pictures of all of these through
my scope and if any of them are good enough I will post them by this weekend

Also, way off by the water there were thousands of some kind of birds, dark
colored, flying back and forth as shorebirds do. They were too far from me
to see any more than this and not knowing much about shorebirds I can't
guess what they were. Perhaps someone else may have seen them or other such
flocks recently??
