Hi Tweeters,

I just got see one of the Medina herons chicks in full flight this evening:-) It flew over to one of the fir trees across the pond and actually did a pretty decent landing. Then it flew around quite a bit, over towards the other pond and then over the street to the golf course. It must have landed somewhere over there because it didn't come back. These birds have really been the highlight of my daily life. I try to stop in and check in on them before and after work. I will really miss them when they all fledge, luckily there are 12 more to go, and the last nest to be built is at least a week and half behind the rest.

I do worry a bit that the park is so dog friendly that the not too strong ones could get nabbed by a dog if they end up on the ground or decide to practice fishing in the ponds.
But all the worry I had about eagles never has come to pass so far, so maybe it will be OK. I know a lot of the park users are pretty protective of the heron's. I will keep my fingers crossed.
