Hi Ian. This is Daniel Bastaja. Several birders (myself included) have spent
time at the 2nd Ave. and Wylie St. intersection in Vancouver (Canada) and,
to the best of my knowledge, nobody has seen a trace of the Mynas since
their demise was reported in mid-February. Although this is circumstantial
evidence, it is strong because, for several years, the birds were so very
reliable at that location. Most times you just had to drive up and stick
your head out the car window and there they were. At the most, I never had
to wait longer than a few minutes for one or both of them to show up. So the
fact that now nobody has seen them at all after extensive searching is a bad
sign. Moreover, one observer saw Starlings checking out the Myna's regular
nest hole in the side of the brick building.
