Greetings,

Today, while on my daily walk, I found an adult Iceland Gull near two adult
Herring Gulls and two adult Ring-billed Gulls. The bird was seen from
Lincoln Rock State Park, Douglas County, north of East Wenatchee. The
Iceland landed on floats and also flew around quite a bit as I viewed the
bird for about 30 minutes from campsite 65. This spot is just upriver from
Rocky Reach Dam.
This bird was smaller than either of the Herring Gulls and larger
than the Ring-bills. The mantle was the same shade as the Herring Gulls-seen
as the Iceland perched near the Herrings and faced in the same direction.
The gray on the primaries looked like the same shade as the mantle.
The bird eventually flew north - upriver with the two Herring Gulls. I then
went to the northend of the state park and couldn't see it. I checked the
area along Turtle Rock Rd north of there and still couldn't find it. Still
heading north I checked out the Columbia River from the big pullout at
Longview Rd and US 2.
There it was! Quite a ways out on the big whitewashed rock on the river,
northwest of the pullout. Here the Iceland spent 10 minutes flying and
landing in the middle of the river.

The turnoff for Lincoln Rock SP is on US 2 at MP132.5 The park is closed
but you can park outside the gate and walk in. Delorme Page 83, D6.

Long View Rd is at US 2 at MP 135.5.

Good Birding,
