Subject: Great Egrets "up north"

Dear Tweeters,

In the early 1990's, a single Great Egret wintered in a wet meadow in Skagit County. The exact location was just a few meters north and east of the junction of State Route 20 and Hamilton Cemetery Road (near SR 20 mile marker 75). I saw that bird many times that winter. People I worked with also reported seeing it. If I remember correctly, locals said that they had seen "that big white bird" in that same place in previous winters. After that year, it never showed up again. I think it was the winter of 1990-91, or it might have been the following year.

Yours truly,

Gary Bletsch
