Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday March 6. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

The VERMILION FLYCATCHER continues to be seen at the Tukwila Golf Course in
woodburn.

On the March 4 offshore boat trip out of Newport 2-3 MANX SHEARWATERS were
seen and photographed for the first verified state record. FULMARS,
PINK-FOOTED, SOOTY, and SHORT-TAILED SHEARWATERS were also seen.

Many SAY'S PHOEBES were seen in the Willamette Valley during the week
including several in the Portland area. One was at the South Jetty of the
Siuslaw River March 2.

On March 2 two GREEN HERONS and 10 CINNAMON TEAL were south of Warrenton
near the Astoria Golf Course. That day the wintering CLAY-COLORED SPARROW
and GLAUCOUS GULL were seen again in Warrenton. A flock of 200 SNOW GEESE
are still on the Grassy Island east of Astoria.

The HARRIS'S SPARROW continues to be seen north of Vancouver along Old River
Road at the entrance to the Evergreen Aluminum Plant. One LAPLAND LONGSPUR
was with the HORNED LARKS in North Portland March 2. A GREEN HERON was in
Tigard March 2, and a NASHVILLE WARBLER was in SW Portland March 4.

On March 1 a pair of RED-NAPED SAPSUCKERS was reported from Dawson Creek
park in Hillsboro. A pair of BLACK PHOEBES was seen March 1 near where they
nested last summer south of Dayton. A flock of nine CHIPPING SPARROWS was
west of Salem March 5. A TRICOLORED BLACKBIRD was at Baskett Slough NWR
March 2.

On February 28 a KINGBIRD, probably a WESTERN, was north of Klamath Falls.
On March 1 two LESSER GOLDFINCHES were at the mouth of the Deschutes River
and a flock of 76 was in Giles French Park at the John Day Dam.
