Hi Tweets,
Many of you will remember the Common Grackle that stayed three months on
Birchfield Road east of Yakima last year. It was first seen on March 9 and
stayed until about June 14.
Richard Repp stopped by that spot this afternoon and, low and behold, there
was the Common Grackle!
Directions again - take the Nob Hill Blvd./Highway 24 exit off I-82 in
Yakima; go east on Hwy 24 for about two miles. There is a stop light at
Birchfield Road. Turn right onto Birchfield and go south. At about one mile
the road curves to the right and then in about .2 miles curves to the left.
The grackle is again hanging out between the curves. Most of the time
Richard and I were looking at it this afternoon, it stayed on the east side
of the road, sometimes far enough away from the road that it could not be
seen from the road. It is with a small group of Brewer's Blackbirds.
If you go to see it, please park well off the road. There were many
complaints from the residents in the area of people parking so that they
almost blocked the road.
