Tweets,
I spent the day cruising the backroads from Leahy Jct.
down to Wanapum dam. I counted 16 male Sage Grouse
displaying at the lek. I saw NO females in the hour
from 9:00-10:00 am. Not far away I found a mixed
flock of Snow Buntings and Lapland Longspurs feeding
in a farm field right close to the road (18 NE, just
..2m east of K NE, Douglas Cnty), over 500 birds.
I found the Wanapum Dam Yellow Billed Loon relaxing in
the sunshine and slow water at 2:15 pm, viewed from
just outside the visitor center entrance, across the
river.
I also saw three MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS for the day, my
first for the year. One was up near the Snow Bunting
flock and I found two more driving the old highway
from Vantage toward Ellensburg, on fence wire near the
road.
