Barb and I began our day looking for Snowy Owls south of Moses Lake. We
were unsuccessful in locating any Snowy Owls. We were fortunate enough to
observe the following.

At the corner of L SE and 4 SE:

MERLIN - 1 The adult female Merlin (Taiga) was unsuccessful in trying to
apprehend a Red-winged Blackbird from a large flock and elected to preen in
the top of a large tree in lieu of a meal.

Rd 6 SE:

Greater White-fronted Goose - 1 with a large group of Canadas

Lind Coulee:

Tundra Swan - 52
Greater White-fronted Goose - 5

Blythe Public Access:

Downy Woodpecker - 1
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 1

Birder's Corner:

Tundra Swan - 12
Canvasback - 2
Redhead - 2

Dodson Road, Frenchman's/Winchester Wasteways:

Great Horned Owl - 1 A female already incubating eggs. We left her alone,
and hope others will do the same.
Sandhill Crane - 13
Virginia Rail - 1
Lincoln's Sparrow - 1
Hooded Merganser - 3

South Frontage Road Public Access (approximately one mile east of Dodson
Road exit on South Frontage Road):

Tundra Swan - 103, quite a large concentration.

It was a beautiful day, 47 species were observed, and we seem to be on
the mend.
