Dennis,
I just love Herschel's way of describing his outings. I just received my
copy of his newly published book "Snowmelt & Timberdoodles" and I've been
enjoying reading about his excursions. Arkansas is so fortunate to have
him.
I still keep up with Tweeters and all the great sightings everyone
experiences. I dearly miss driving through the Skagit Flats with
Roughlegged Hawks and five Falcon days. This winter I enjoyed everyone's
enthusiasm here in Arkansas over a Barrow's Goldeneye found on Lake
Dardenelle and a pair of Black Scoters on Beaverfork Lake. Now we are all
looking forward to Spring and migration. Many migrating birds pass through
here on their way up North. Tree Swallows have arrived and to my delight
yesterday Purple Martins returned to the condo we have where I work. Soon
the Warblers will descend on us as well as countless Vireos, Buntings,
Tanagers and flycatchers.
I miss all my friends in the Pacific Northwest. If you are ever traveling
through my new neck of the woods, please contact me.
