Hello Tweeters,
This year is a different story about the two species of Hummingbirds getting
along.In previous years there was no trouble and i look at my notes that
when the Rufous came,the Anna's disappeared for three daysWe had our first
male Rufous on March 6th,but also there in previous years looking at my
records the female Rufous came the next day.So this year it is the Anna's
what completly take over both feeders and protect his territory.So we did
not saw the male Rufous for two days.But i also remember that when the male
arrived he looks right than for a suitable nest side.Finaly after two days
the male Rufous been comming real early and real late at night..So the way
it looks after three years of residence ,the Anna's claims to be the
dominate species here.Today is the first time we saw the Rufous male already
two times and the male Anna's is not perching, to waite and chase him off.To
this date since the 6th of March we been seeing the female Rufous only two
times.
