Subject: 3-15 Grant - Lincoln County Loop

Today Barb and I made the loop from Moses Lake to Grand Coulee and back.
Our circuitous route took us north and east through the back country of
Grant and Lincoln counties, eventually ending at Grand Coulee. From Grand
Coulee we returned to Moses Lake via Hwy 155 & Hwy 17. The following
highlights were observed.
Gloyd Seeps (Stratford Road)
Great Horned Owl - 2
Red-tailed Hawk - 2
Hwy 28 Crab Creek Crossing (Brook Lake outlet)
Violet-green Swallow - 3
Tree Swallow - 2
Wilson Creek
Say's Phoebe - 2
Northern Shrike - 1
Marlin-Krupp
Turkey Vulture - 1
Kiner Road (Marlin-Krupp to Almira)
Rough-legged Hawk - 2. One a very nice light morph
Red-tailed Hawk - 2
Violet-green Swallow - 106. Not a misprint, there were 106 violet-greens
sitting on wires where Kiner Road crosses Wilson Creek just south of Almira.
Barn Swallow - 1 immature, with the VGSW above

The weather was cloudy with some persistent rain showers. In spite of the
weather we had an excellent day with 61 species observed.
