This is the Vancouver Natural History Society's Rare Bird Alert for
Saturday, March 15th, sponsored in part by Wild Birds Unlimited, with stores
in Vancouver and North Vancouver.

Sightings for March 15th

Early spring migration of many bird species is evident with 3 TREE
SWALLOWS being seen at Iona on the 14th. On March 15th, there were 6
VIOLET-GREEN
SWALLOWS over the Burnaby Lake Sports Complex and a RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD
near 41st and Dunbar in Vancouver.

Near Lougheed Mall in Burnaby was a PILEATED WOODPECKER.

At Terra Nova in Richmond were 2 LONG-EARED OWLS and a GREAT-HORNED OWL.

Seen from Lighthouse Marine Park in Point Roberts were several BRANDT'S
CORMORANTS.

There were no reports on March 14th

Sightings for March 13th

In Vancouver, at the intersection of 2nd and Ontario, a juvenile NORTHERN
GOSHAWK was seen hunting ROCK DOVES.

At Beach Grove in Tsawwassen were the AMERICAN AVOCET and 2 BLACK
OYSTERCATCHERS.
