I did a little scouting this evening and I think all of the new cranes found their way to the Corfu area today. At 6 pm we had at least 3500 cranes, 15,000 geese, and 40,000 ducks (actually some of the ducks came in after 6) plus a few swans flew by. All are easily visible from Corfu Road (Road B SE, 13 miles west of Othello south of SR 26). The Crane Festival will not be short of birds. As of Saturday morning there were fewer than 20 tickets left for the banquet, some field trips full, others with some space. Sounded like the Cabana Motel still had some rooms also. Check the website www.othello-wa.com for info.

While working outside today I had 5 distinct flocks of cranes over head. They were to high to see, but were far enough apart to count the different flocks. With this steady south wind I have a feeling we will awake Monday with a lot of new visitors.
