This afternoon a pair of Wood Ducks landed in our yard, and I E-mailed my
husband to say "Woody & Wilma stopped by for a visit." He wondered in his
response if everyone named their backyard visitors as we do. So, I thought
I'd ask. Do you have names for "your" birds? Here's a few of ours:

"Jetson" - Rufous Hummingbird
"The Flying Elvii" - a trio of Stellar's Jays
"Lyndon & Lady Bird" - Singing Sparrows
"Elgie" - the lone Gooseman - a lone Canada Goose
"Fat Neck & Chickie" - two CG who constantly harass Elgie.
"Prince" - a house finch
"Darth Vadar" - a not-yet-mature Bald Eagle
"Talon" - Darth Vadar's parent
"Whoopie" - a pied-billed Grebe
"Elvira" - an eared Grebe
"Samm" - our Great Blue Heron
"New Guy" - Robin (who showed up well after spring last year and sang
constantly as though he were trying to attract a mate. We said, "Hey New Guy,
zip it!)

Conkareeah Caf? & The Flicker Bar - our birdhouse & suet feeder
Scully & Mulder - the squirrels who rob the above cafe & bar.

There's a zillion of them. I'll spare you the full list, but I'd love to hear
some of yours. )
