Subject: Air Travel w/a Scope

Hi,

I traveled to Tucson last month and to the UK this week - and was able to
carry my scope and binoculars without any problems. I travel frequently and
so far have never had a problem.

Recently I have checked my tripod - I do not think that would be acceptable
in the cabin in todays's climate.

There is apparently a new requirement that checked baggage should not be
locked. Given the value of optics that is a powerful reason for taking as
carry-on.
