With spring arriving, I'm finding myself working the yard more. Many herbs
are emerging, there's more light, birds are singing--all welcome.

Yesterday at about 5 p.m. I heard, and then saw, five WESTERN BLUEBIRDS
flying over the place, heading directly toward Mt. Pilchuck to the east.
This exciting find was new for the yard list and not expected. Last year
Steven Aslanian had some birds in n. Snohomish County (near Lake Ketchum I
believe), but otherwise county records must be quite few in recent times.
Skagit County has just a handful of recent records.

Yesterday I also saw two Tree Swallows at our place, which tend to arrive
late here and in small numbers. On a very brief stop at the Skagit WMA
Saturday, March 22, I had one BARN SWALLOW in with Tree Swallows, and a
HARLAN'S HAWK was seen hovering over a field at the nearby north end of
Wylie Rd.
