On March 13, Jim and Annet Dittmer observed a SORA from the blind at McNary
National Wildlife Refuge in Burbank.
The first LONG-BILLED CURLEW of the season was reported by Barbara and Tom
Clarke near their Benton City home on March 15.
Jim & Annet Dittmer birded the Ringold area on March 16 and observed 2
GOLDEN EAGLES and a GREAT HORNED OWL among other birds. They reported
thousands of SANDHILL CRANES near Basin City
A bit distant, but still exciting, Wayne Heinz and Lucie Fritz observed 2
flocks of RED CROSSBILLS and a CASSIN'S FINCH at the Tucannon Fish Hatchery
on March 16.
Margaret Greger reported a RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH at her Richland feeder on
March 17.
Murrel & Jack Dawson had a SPOTTED TOWHEE at their Benton City feeder on
March 23.
Also on the 23rd, Ruth Fischer saw and heard 2 AMERICAN BITTERN at the
cattail marsh along Snively Road in West Richland.
