Sorry, I just reread the message and saw that I mistyped "pugetensis".
Picky picky. If anyone is interested in knowing more about the subspecies
of the W/C Sparrows I highly recommend checking out the June 1995 issue of
Birding magazine. There is a massive article by Jon Dunn, Kimball Garrett,
and Jonathan Alderfer (impressive trio). They state that the general
northern limit of wintering "pugetensis" is probably the mouth of the
Columbia river, so today's birds may be on the move up the coast or ready
to nest nearby.
