Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday March 27. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On March 25 two WHITE-WINGED DOVES were seen near Washington Park in
southwest Portland. A BROAD-WINGED HAWK was flying north past Cape Blanco
March 24. A RUFF was in the White Lake unit of Lower Klamath NWR March 25.
On March 20 a male ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK visited a Philomath feeder.

Major swallow movements occurred during the week that included TREE,
VIOLET-GREEN, ROUGH-WINGED, CLIFF, and BARN SWALLOWS. Large numbers of
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were reported along with a few ORANGE-CROWNED
WARBLERS. PURPLE FINCHES and COWBIRDS are also arriving. Two VAUX?S SWIFTS
were at Cape Blanco March 23, and one was at the EE Wilson SWA the next day..

On March 22 a SURF SCOTER was on Lake Oswego south of Portland. A breeding
plumaged EARED GREBE was at the Fernhill Wetlands March 26. A female
CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD was near the EE Wilson SWA March 25. A YELLOW-HEADED
BLACKBIRD is now at Fern Ridge Reservoir near Eugene. Two EARED GREBES and a
EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL are still at the Creswell Sewage Ponds.

On March 23 a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER was on Haystack Reservoir near Madras,
a LONG-TAILED DUCK was on Lake Billy Chinook, and a SURF SCOTER was on
Suttle Lake.
