Good Morning Tweeters,

I finally got up early enough to come in early and bird the fill. It is so hard to get up on a workday but on the weekend I am often up before the sun. (Well no sun today, yet.)

Many great sighting this morning. Bird of the morning though was a Virginia Rail that I got to get wonderful looks at after I almost walked by it to pursue a better look at a male pheasant. The rail was clear out of the cattails into the grass and I got the most complete looks I have ever had of one for about 3-4 minutes. It was bobbing its very short tail and making jerky head motions. Don't know that I would call it head bobbing. The gray patches on the side of the face were nice contrast to it's long orangish bill.

Other great birds, a male Brewer's blackbird displaying and "singing", tree swallows checking out hole's in the dead snags, a Yellow Rumped Warbler singing, some Goldfinches turning gold and singing. (At the same time :-) )

This is likely to inspire me to get up early again, someday.

Kathy
