We (family and friends) birded around Nisqually today, taking the boardwalk
up to the ring-dike loop before getting rained out. The activity was really
high and there were lots and lots of Yellow-rumped Warblers (Audubons and
Myrtles) flying around in the maples and alders. I counted over 60 of them,
however I cannot be certain if some were repeated counts as they were moving
through areas rapidly.

We saw a total of 52 species, but here are a few highlights:

Western Tanger 3
Wilson's Warbler 1
Yellow Warbler 3
Orange-crowned Warbler 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler 60+
Dunlin in breeding plummage 5
Sora and Virginia Rail calling from the marsh near the barns

We also watched a Sharp-shinned Hawk circling for awhile with a small rodent
in its talons. I've never seen them circle like this before, especially with
prey already in claw. Also a pair of Canada Geese and a pair Red-breasted
Mergansers had their young with them. A very active and exciting day!
