Do not follow these instructions. jdbgmgr.exe is a file used by the Window
operating system.

This hoax, like the SULFNBK.EXE Warning hoax, tries to encourage you to
delete a legitimate Windows file from your computer. Jdbgmgr.exe is the file
to which the hoax refers, and it is the Microsoft Debugger Registrar for
Java.

I encourage people, before passing along rumors about virus' etc, to visit a
place like Hoaxbusters at http://hoaxbusters.ciac.org/ to determine the
validity of such rumors.

Subject: Fwd: Virus from my computer

I'm never sure whether to believe these things but I did find I had this
exe file in two places on my hard drive so I did what Priscilla said and got
rid of it. I hope it's not a hoax that has had me remove something vital to
the system...

Sorry for the trouble.

Richard

Hi I was sent this message late last night and I did have the virus. Just
follow the instructions and it will get rid of the virus and it is very
easy. I have Norton Virus scanner but it did not pick it up. Again sorry.
Just follow the instructions and it will be o.k. Blank A virus has been
passed to me by a contact. My address book in
turn has been affected. Since you are in my address book there is a good
chance you will find the virus in your computer, too. The virus (called
jdbgmgr.exe) is not detected by Norton or McAfee anti-virus systems. The
virus sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system. It is sent
automatically by messenger and by the address book whether or not you send
emails to your contacts. Here is how you check for the virus and get rid of
it:
1. Go to start, find or search option.
2. In the file-finder option, type the name: jdbgmgr.exe
3. Be sure to search for C drive and all the subfolders and any
other drives you may have.
4. Click "find now".
5. The virus has a teddy bear icon with the name jdbgmgr.exe. DO
NOT OPEN IT.
6. Go to edit (on the menu bar), choose "select all" to highlight
the file without opening it.
7. Now go to file (on the menu bar) and select delete. It will
then go to the recycle bin. IF YOU FIND THIS VIRUS, YOU MUST CONTACT ALL
THE PEOPLE IN YOUR ADDRESS
BOOK SO THEY CAN ERADICATE THE VIRUS IN THEIR OWN ADDRESS BOOK.
To do this:
(a) Open a new email message.
(b) Click on the address book icon.
(c) Highlight every name and add to "BBC".
(d) Copy this message and paste to email
(e) Enter subject. Apologies to those of you who have had this message
several times from different people. These directions are very good. I was
able to follow them easily.
