This morning at the south end of Rock Lake (Whitman County), there was a
nice Common Loon in breeding plumage. I don't know if this is to be
expected or not, since I rarely visit this site.

This evening back home in Stanwood (Snohomish County), my son tells me that
at 5:30 AM this morning two common loons were flying over Stanwood, calling
as they headed north.
