This is the Vancouver Natural History Society's Bird Alert for Monday,
May 5th, sponsored in part by Wild Birds Unlimited, with stores in
Vancouver and North Vancouver.

The featured birds are DUSKY FLYCATCHERS.

Sightings for Monday, May 5th

A DUSKY FLYCATCHER was observed in Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver.

Another DUSKY FLYCATCHER was found amongst other migrants in the Boundary
Bay Airport Woodlot located just off 72nd Street and just north of the
Boundary Bay Airport in Delta.

A male BULLOCK'S ORIOLE was observed near the Port Mann Bridge near the
mouth of the Coquitlum River.

An EARED GREBE was observed at Blackie Spit.

Sightings for Sunday, May 4th

In Pitt Meadows a GOLDEN EAGLE was observed.

A pair of SOLITARY SANDPIPERS were observed near the corner of 208th St and
Yorkshire Creek in North Langley.

At Blackie Spit 10 WHIMBREL and 1 MARBLED GODWIT was reported.

At the Iona Island Sewage Ponds 3 REDHEADS and 2 AMERICAN PIPITS
were reported. Of interest was 1 COMMON LOON seen on the Outer Pond.

A Parasitic Jaeger and over 200+ Common Terns were reported from the
Tsawwassen to Duke Point Ferry run.

A highlight from the Squamish Estuary Count was a YELLOW-BILLED LOON.

Sightings for Saturday, May 3rd

A VESPER SPARROW was observed near the corner of 176 St and 80th Ave in
Cloverdale.

Migrants are starting to appear in the Vancouver Area with WILSON'S
WARBLERS, TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS, PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHERS, HAMMOND'S
FLYCATCHERS, ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS, VAUX'S SWIFTS and YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLERS being widely reported.
