Subject: FW: alaska research cruise position (fwd)

editor's note: With thanks to Lin Murdock in our School of Aquatic and
Fishery Sciences for forwarding this to us.

28 April 2003

I'm looking for a person with experience doing at-sea bird surveys to be
part of a four-person team on a month-long cruise along the south side of
the Alaska Peninsula. Our main objective will be to measure the population
status and distribution of Kittlitz's Murrelets as we explore the
magnificent and little-visited coastline between Cape Douglas and Cold Bay.

Dates are ca. 15 June through 15 July. I can't pay salaries, but can pay
all expenses (including airfare up to Alaska) and a small per diem stipend.

The ideal candidate will have a strong stomach, will know their birds, and
will be comfortable living aboard a small boat (42' seiner) for four weeks
in very remote areas and in crummy weather.

Please pass this on to folks who might be interested, and/or reply if
interested to me at:
