Tweeters,
I watched a robin building a nest in the tree along the street in front of my
house. Work began three or four days before Easter and she was sitting on
the nest pretty much full time by the Tuesday after Easter. My grandaghter
was excited to see the bird working on the nest, when she was here on Easter
and to see just the tail or the tip of her beak sticking above the nest, when
she was here the next Saturday and Sunday.
I don't have direct evidence, but I suspect that it was crows who found the
nest and the eggs. They had been perching on the electric power wires above
the nest on before the robin disappeared during the next week. The nest
looked a bit "messed" up. Didn't find any blue egg shell fragments on the
ground. Haven't told granddaughter about the departure of the robin from the
nest.
