Sightings for Wednesday, May 7 - 8:00 PM update

Sightings for May 7

A GREAT EGRET was found at Acland Pond in N. Kelowna (CJ,CC,TF,BD). To
access the pond turn E. off Hwy 97, onto Edwards Road, N. of the Sexsmith Rd
intersection. Make a left on Acland Road and look for the pond on the E.
side of the road, beyond a construction site. Please view from the road.

In Summerland, an AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN was reported flying over Trout
Creek (SM) and in Okanagan Falls, a male BULLOCK'S ORIOLE was in Okanagan
Falls Campground (PL).

A SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER was on the gravel bar at the mouth of Power's Ck in
Westbank (MF).


Sightings for May 6

Ten male WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were in with a large flock of assorted grebes,
including WESTERN , RED-NECKED and HORNED, off the Maude Roxby Bird
Sanctuary, on Okanagan Lake, in Kelowna (CC). Also there was the fist COMMON
YELLOWTHROAT of the season (CC).

In Westbank, a male HARLEQUIN DUCK was at the mouth of Power's Ck, in
Gellatly Bay (MF). The bird was spooked and flew S.

In a late report for May 4, a male TENNESSEE WARBLER was with a large flock
of migrants at Trout Ck in Summerland (KK).


Sightings for May 5

A FOX SPARROW was along the Okanagan River Channel S. of the Ok Falls
Campground (CC).

Along the W. dyke S. of the bridge on Rd 22, N. of Osoyoos, was a
GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW, a WESTERN TANAGER and a WESTERN WOOD-PEWEE (CC). Two
more GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS were in Shannon Lake Regional Park, in Westbank
(MF).

Two SANDHILL CRANES were along the W. dyke, N. of Road 22 (CC).

A singing male BREWER'S SPARROW was at White Lake, near Ok Falls (CC).
