My wife had a quilt accepted into the American Quilting Society show in Paducah, Kentucky, so this wasn't a birding trip but we did get a chance for a little.

She picked up several life birds, and it was fun for me to see all the birds of my youth, please the excitement of all the tornadoes!

Life bird for me which I'd sort of given up hope of seeing during
a walk at Mammoth Caves Park:

OVENBIRD

not only that, but ovenbirds putting buns in the oven!
Got to hear the teacher, teacher, TEACHER call also.

pileated woodpecker
white-eyed vireo
carolina chickadee
eastern phoebe
baltimore oriole
indigo bunting
black vulture
rufous sided towhee
brown thrasher

And then there's all the great BBQ and bluegrass music too.

Great to be back here though where i recognize things immediately.
