Hello Tweets,

Today my mother and I briefly checked the Nisqually NWR this afternoon between 1pm-2pm with a walk along the McAllister Creek trail from the west parking lot then continuing to the Twin Barns with a walk along the Nisqually River Loop trail back to the headquarters area. Our main highlight was a single Black Swift observed flying high over the Twin Barns boardwalk amongst a large flock of Vaux's Swifts and various swallow species and a walk back along the Nisqually River boardwalk was single singing Nashville Warbler observed alone in a large patch of Big Leaf Maple trees..Overall bird activity was very limited,but we managed to locate a few notable species during our visit including the following:

1 pair of Hooded Mergansers with 6 young(observed from the Twin Barns overlook)
4 Sora(heard only)
1 Hairy Woodpecker
1 Northern Rough-winged Swallow
2 Western Scrub Jays(observed at the intersection of Nisqually Cut-off Rd. and the main road going to the Nisqually NWR off of I-5)
1 Swainson's Thrush
2 Warbling Vireos
2 Orange-crowned Warblers
3 Yellow Warblers
2 Wilson's Warblers
1 MacGillivray's Warbler
1 Western Tanager
